JCB Unveils New 3DX Backhoe Loader Range at bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2026: What’s New in the 3DX, 3DX Plus & 3DX Super?

JCB India has showcased its refreshed 3DX backhoe loader range at bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2026, bringing the JCB 3DX, 3DX Plus and 3DX Super together as a key part of its latest construction equipment portfolio. The three backhoe loaders were displayed as part of JCB India’s 21-machine showcase at the India Expo Centre & Mart in Greater Noida, where the company announced 10 new machines for the Indian and export markets.

The updated 3DX range reflects JCB’s focus on improving productivity, fuel efficiency, operator comfort and application-specific performance in one of India’s most widely used construction equipment categories. According to JCB, the three backhoe loaders are powered by its Stage 5-430 engine platform, with the company highlighting torque of up to 440 Nm for the range. JCB has also highlighted improvements in fuel efficiency across its backhoe loader portfolio in recent years.

The JCB 3DX is positioned as the entry point to the refreshed range and is aimed at customers primarily looking for excavation and general construction applications. JCB lists the machine with a 37 kW (49 hp) Stage 5 engine, a maximum digging depth of 4.77 metres and a 0.26 m³ bucket capacity. The machine incorporates features designed to improve fuel efficiency, hydraulic performance, reliability and operator comfort.

Moving up the range, the JCB 3DX Plus is designed for customers looking for higher performance and greater loading capability. JCB lists the 3DX Plus with a 55 kW (74 hp) engine, 4.77-metre digging depth and 0.26 m³ bucket capacity. The 3DX Plus is available in different configurations, including 2WD, 4WD and 4WD with a high-dump bucket, allowing customers to select the configuration according to their operating conditions and application requirements.

JCB states that the 3DX Plus can deliver up to 12% lower fuel consumption compared with the previous model under its stated test conditions. Its 4WD version is claimed to provide 15% higher output and 20% better fuel efficiency compared with the 2WD version. The high-dump configuration is designed to provide greater dump height for applications requiring additional reach during material handling.

At the top of the three-model lineup is the JCB 3DX Super, which is targeted at more demanding construction and material-handling applications. The machine comes with standard 4WD and a 6-in-1 multipurpose bucket, giving operators greater versatility for loading, dozing and other site activities. JCB lists a 5.05-metre digging depth, 0.30 m³ backhoe bucket and 74 hp output for the machine.

The 3DX Super also features JCB’s stated 440 Nm torque output, along with technologies such as Auto Stop, Auto Idle and multiple working modes aimed at reducing unnecessary fuel consumption. The machine incorporates features including the Smooth Ride System, semi-automatic kick-down and an updated gear-shifting arrangement to support operator productivity.

Operator comfort is another area where JCB has updated the higher variants. Industry reports from bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2026 note redesigned cab interiors for the 3DX Plus and 3DX Super, including an updated rotary dial, revised displays, redesigned seating and a mobile charging point. These changes are intended to improve ease of operation and comfort during longer working shifts.

The refreshed backhoe loaders are part of a much larger product showcase by JCB India at bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2026. Alongside the three backhoe loaders, JCB unveiled machines including the 150 FM and 225 XT excavators, 18Z mini excavator, AGRIMAX tractor, G160QI CPCB IV genset, 475-5 wheel loader and A60E access platform. The company said the machines were designed, engineered and manufactured through its Indian operations, reinforcing India’s role as an important production and export base for JCB.

For equipment buyers, contractors and fleet owners, the key development is the clearer differentiation within the 3DX family. The 3DX is positioned for core excavation and general construction work, the 3DX Plus targets customers seeking additional output and loading capability, while the 3DX Super is aimed at more demanding applications requiring standard 4WD, a 6-in-1 bucket and greater digging capability.

With backhoe loaders continuing to play an important role across road construction, real estate, utilities, infrastructure and general contracting in India, the refreshed 3DX family gives customers more choices within JCB’s established backhoe loader platform. Its showcase at bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2026 also underlines the continuing importance of backhoe loaders in JCB India’s product strategy as the company expands its made-in-India portfolio for both domestic and international markets.
